The Federal Government is set to launch the Youth Help Desk WhatsApp AI Chatbot, a digital support platform designed to provide real-time guidance, information, and access to essential resources for young Nigerians nationwide.
The initiative, jointly developed by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Digital Innovation, targets more than one million young Nigerians annually, marking a significant step in the government’s digital inclusion and youth empowerment agenda.
According to the Ministry, the chatbot is envisioned as a “digital lifeline” for Nigeria’s youth, offering instant access to verified information on employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, mental health support, civic engagement, and mentorship programmes—all delivered via WhatsApp, one of the most widely used messaging platforms among Nigerian youths.

Minister: WhatsApp AI chatbot will be ‘digital lifeline’ for Nigerian youths
“It is a forward-thinking intervention that ensures every young Nigerian has real-time access to credible information, mentorship, and opportunities capable of transforming their future,” said Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development in a statement.
The Ministry says the upcoming Stakeholders’ Engagement and Demonstration Forum will formally unveil the chatbot’s operational framework. The event will feature a live demonstration of the WhatsApp AI Chatbot interface, a presentation of the Help Desk’s vision, mission, and structure, as well as stakeholder feedback and partnership pledges to support its nationwide deployment.
According to the Minister, the project aligns with the Federal Government’s broader commitment to leveraging technology to tackle youth-related challenges, including unemployment, limited access to accurate information, and insufficient mentorship networks.
The Youth Help Desk Chatbot, he said, represents a new phase of digital engagement between government and young citizens, promoting inclusion, transparency, and trust in public institutions.
“Our goal is to restore hope among young people by showing that government can deliver support, opportunities, and credible information through technology-driven systems,” Olawande added.
The Ministry emphasised that the chatbot forms part of an ongoing “Renewed Hope” agenda to strengthen youth participation in governance, drive innovation, and bridge the communication gap between policymakers and the youth population.
When launched, the Youth Help Desk WhatsApp AI Chatbot is expected to serve as a scalable model for technology-enabled governance, offering young Nigerians a direct and reliable digital channel to engage with government programmes and development initiatives.
