The National Population Commission (NPC) says it has started preparations for Nigeria’s inaugural fully digital national census with the establishment of the Population and Housing Census Security and Logistics Committee.

This technology-driven initiative, NPC says, also incorporates robust quality assurance measures like the QA Pad, which ensures real-time data accuracy throughout the census process.
NPC: How Nigeria’s first fully digital national census will ensure ‘real-time data accuracy’
The upcoming Digital Census was initially announced by the NPC in 2023 before its postponement. It aims to improve the census-taking process by utilising tested and approved digital tools such as the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EADPad) for Geographic Information System (GIS) data capture during Enumeration Area Demarcation, the agency says.
This technology-driven initiative, NPC says, also incorporates robust quality assurance measures like the QA Pad, which ensures real-time data accuracy throughout the census process.
Chaired jointly by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser and Mr Nasir Isa Kwarra, NPC Chairman, the committee’s primary objective is to ensure the efficient deployment of personnel and materials crucial for the census.
NPC says “this milestone marks a crucial step towards a successful and peaceful conduct of Nigeria’s first fully digital census. The establishment and inauguration of this committee demonstrate a commitment to ensuring a smooth and secure census process.”
The committee, which includes Service Chiefs and other key stakeholders, is tasked with ensuring the secure and efficient deployment of personnel and distribution of materials essential for the census.
This initiative underscores Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging digital technologies to enhance data accuracy and streamline census processes nationwide, NPC says.
