Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has launched the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Digital Museum and Television Studio, calling it a milestone in preserving the legacy of the scheme.
The event, held at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, highlighted the Scheme’s dedication to embracing technology in showcasing its rich history and contributions to national development since its establishment in 1973.
“I am honoured to be here for the commissioning of the National Youth Service Corps Digital Museum of Dynamic History and Television Studio. This event highlights the significant contributions of the NYSC since its establishment in 1973, particularly its pivotal role in fostering patriotism, promoting national unity, and service among Nigerian youths,” the First Lady says.

“I commend the Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed and the entire management team and staff of the NYSC scheme for this visionary step towards preserving the legacy of this noble institution,” she tells attendees at the event.
The First Lady also commends the work of Corps members, who, through their selfless service, have made lasting contributions to various sectors, including science and technology, agriculture, healthcare, and community development.
“The Nigerian youth embodies an indomitable spirit that the world admires, with a spirit of resilience, innovation, and boundless energy,” Senator Tinubu says.

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, NYSC Director General, expresses pride in the newly-launched museum, calling it a vital centre for research, documentation, and cultural preservation.
He notes that it would not only showcase the creativity and innovation of Corps members but also serve as a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors interested in the invaluable contributions of Nigerian youth to national development.
“As we unveil this digital facility, we are reminded of the importance of preserving our history amidst the complexities of today’s world. The museum will not only serve as a repository for artifacts and memories, but will also become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors who seek to understand the invaluable contributions of our youth to national development,” the NYSC Director General says.
“With this development,” Brigadier General Ahmed adds, “the updated gallery is set to become a hub for learning and inspiration, which will provide researchers, students and visitors with access to valuable materials that document the NYSC’s impact on society.”

Mr. Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development praises the NYSC for its digital initiatives, describing them as a remarkable achievement in preserving the contributions of Nigerian youth.
“The facility will serve as a virtual source for the history, innovations, and contributions of the nation’s youth over the years,” Olawande says while encouraging young Nigerians to draw inspiration from the NYSC’s efforts and continue to contribute positively to the nation’s development.
