The new Gionee F205 device from the Chinese phone maker Gionee is here to compete by providing a durable, mid range alternative for first-time smartphone owners and low budget-minded consumers.

Just like the trends in the fashion world, the full view display also known as the 18:9 aspect ratio is a trendy feature in the smartphone industry. It also happens that  Gionee integrated this feature into its latest and nicely-crafted Gionee F205.

Gionee F205 was unveiled in November and sports  an 8MP rear camera with a flash to illuminate images and a 5MP front camera that captures decent photos.

Battery and connectivity

Gionee F205 comes with a non-removable 2, 670mAh Li-Po battery that can last a day if it is not heavily used. It should be able to last eight hours of heavy usage on a single charge. This is an advantage as it takes a short time to get a full charge on the device. The device supports 4G VoLTE networks via a dual SIM slot that can accept Nano SIM cards.

Gionee F205 is a mid-range smartphone that has basic connectivity tools including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, hotspot and GPS. Its bezel-less design with 18:9 aspect ratio and a FullView display is one pleasing feature to look out for.

Camera

The Gionee F205 comes with low-tier camera setup, an 8MP rear camera with a flash that provides illumination for images and a 5MP front camera to captures good resolution photos. This would have been a lot better if there was an LED flash that would have made the quality of pictures taken brighter and clearer.

Amazing features like auto focus and face detection which were added amplify the functions of the camera as a lot more photography features can be explored with HDR, panorama, ISO and Geo tagging features made available on the smartphone.

Hardware and Software

Inside Gionee F205 is a Quad-Core MediaTek MT6739 processor clocking at 1.5GHz with a PowerVR GE8100 GPU. There is also a16GB built-in storage expandable to 128GB and a 2GB internal memory. Gionee F205 comes with Amigo  Operating System (OS) based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat pre-installed.

Design & Display

The smartphone has a 5.5 IPS display touchscreen with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1440 pixels that yields excellent display quality.

The screen provides bright and clear display, which is good enough for a mid range  budget phone. The body is made of metal and gives a sleek light feel when held with its pretty antenna lines running horizontally across its rear on the top and bottom.

The design of the antenna lines are unique as they look different from the usual one as the visual appeal of the smartphone is far better than expected and maintains the significant feature of connectivity.

The left and right sides are almost devoid of bezel. The bottom bezel is where you will find the brand logo, while at the top bezel you will find the front camera and ear piece with few sensors. The curvy edges of the F205 makes handling of the device in landscape orientation easy.

Memory & Performance

The MediaTek MT6739 processor of the Gionee F205 runs on the 64-bit architecture. It makes use of four processor cores, each of these have the ability to operate at a speed of 1.5GHz. The graphics aspect is not exactly same with a PowerVR Rogue GR8100 GPU handling graphics operations.

The smartphone has a 2GB of RAM that allows you to multi-task, a 16GB of internal storage for file storage. An additional slot is made available, if you decide to add extra storage as much as 128GB, all you need to do is insert an external micro SD card into the appropriate slot on the device.
