Globacom Limited says that its mobile business unit, Glo, now activates customer service in real time rather than 24 hours as it drives forward its journey of digital transformation, according to the second national operator (SNO) in Nigeria.
“Glo is on a journey of digital transformation, we being in the information system department. We are taking Glo to the next level of digital transformation. Most inspiring transformation for access is moving from an era where activation use to happen in 24 hours now we do a real time activation,” Ajay Satyarthi, Director of Information Systems at Glo, the mobile business unit of the SNO, says as he unfolds the telecoms group’s vision for digital transformation and innovation marking its 21st anniversary.
Satyarthi, who made the announcement during the telecoms group’s celebration of 21 years in operation, which took place on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at select Glo stores, emphasizes the company’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that prioritise customer needs and drive digital transformation.

He highlights some key digital transformations that the mobile phone business is currently undergoing, such as the shift from 24-hour activation to real-time activation.

Globacom, commonly referred to as Glo, is a Nigerian telecoms group that was established by Nigerian billionaire, Dr Mike Adenuga, Jnr, and launched commercial mobile telephony service on August 29, 2003.
The company offers a wide range of services including international and local voice calling, SMS, high-speed internet, ADSL for homes, fixed landline services, and telecom solutions.
One of the company’s notable achievements is the construction of the high-capacity submarine fiber-optic cable known as Glo-1. This cable, which runs from the United Kingdom to Nigeria, has significantly improved internet speeds, download rates, and overall online technologies in the region.
As of March 2024, Glo accounts for a subscriber base of 62,191,448 million in Nigeria, a milestone which the company says underscores its commitment to providing reliable and innovative telecommunications services to its customers.
Glo bets on ‘MY-G’ ‘to offer affordable data bundles’
Globacom recently launched ‘MY-G’ , an all-in-one social media and entertainment data bundle.
“My-G,” the company says, in local parlance, is used to reflect the closeness people have with their friends. The new data plan which goes by the same name shows that it is so good that subscribers will see it as ‘My G’ because it is always there for them to do all they want online especially in content creation, entertainment, and social media at very affordable rates.”
The new product offers affordable bundles which will make subscribers on the Glo network and intending subscribers to easily migrate. For as low as ₦100, the subscriber gets 400MB with 1-hour free browsing and connections on WhatsApp, Tiktok, Snapchat, BoomPlay, Audiomack, Instagram and GloTV with a validity period of 1 day.
₦300 gives 1GB with connections to the same applications and 1-hour free browsing too. This lasts for 3 days. ₦500 avails the customer 1.5GB with connections to the same applications and 1-hour free browsing which lasts for 7 days.
The last bundle which is ₦1000 gives the subscriber 3.5GB with connections to the same applications, 1-hour browsing and lasts for 30 days.
Customers can subscribe to the offering by dialing *312# and following the prompts to the My-G Bundles, the company says.
