Mobile phone company Etisalat, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Xiaomi Redmi 2 were among winners of the 2016 Glomo Awards announced during a series of ceremonies throughout the week at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
While Etisalat bagged the awards of Best Mobile Innovation for Health and Outstanding Innovation for the Connected Life for Etisalat “Drones for Good,” Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was named the Best Smartphone in 2015, Xiaomi Redmi 2 bagged Best Low Cost Smartphone (Sub $100) and Microsoft Surface Pro 4 won Best Mobile Tablet.

Speaking at the presentation, Jon Fredrik Baksaas, GSMA Chairman, says that, “here at Mobile World Congress last year, I challenged our industry to think big and to make Mobile Connect available to more than one billion consumers around the world and I’m pleased to report that we surpassed that, reaching the 2 billion consumer milestone. These six Indian operator worked ceaselessly throughout 2015 and early 2016 in support of this goal and together, they are worthy winners of the “Chairman’s Award” for 2016.”
