Huawei, after 12 years of the P series, has upgraded to the Pura series, starting with the premium-priced Huawei Pura 70 smartphone.

This new series including the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, and Pura 70 Ultra has been marketed by Huawei as the “pioneer of next-stage mobile photography.”

Huawei Pura 70 smartphone: What’s inside this pricey series?

Huawei has positioned the Pura 70 series as a leader in smartphone photography, here are some key features:

  • Ultra Speed Snapshot: This function allows users to capture clear photos of moving objects with just a press of the shutter button.
  • Dynamic and Distant Shots: The main and telephoto cameras can secure clear shots even at a distance. The Pura 70 Ultra can capture subjects moving at speeds up to 300 km/h, making the smartphone perfect for action and fast-moving scenes like race cars or trains.
  • Macro Photography: Both the Pura 70 Pro and Ultra are equipped with an ultra-macro camera that allows zooming in 35 times from as close as 5 cm, capturing intricate details invisible to the naked eye.
  • High Zoom Range: The Pura 70 Pro and Ultra support a zoom range of 200x (0.5x to 100x), enabling users to capture distant scenes like celestial events or concerts with remarkable clarity.

The Pura 70 series features Huawei’s next-generation Ultra Lighting imaging system. The main camera has a 1/1.3-inch sensor and the largest physical aperture of F1.4 in the industry, according to Huawei, allowing significant light intake for brighter, clearer images. The telephoto camera includes a periscope telephoto aperture of F2.1, enhancing image quality during high-speed captures.

Focusing on the Pura 70 Pro, the device features a triple-lens camera system. The rear camera system consists of a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12.5MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3.5x optical zoom. For selfies, there’s a 13MP front-facing camera.

In terms of design, the Pura 70 Pro measures 162.6mm in height, 75.1mm in width, and 8.4mm in thickness and weighs approximately 220 grams with the battery. The device features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display capable of a 1-120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. This screen supports a billion colours and offers a resolution of 2844 x 1260 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 460 ppi.

Powering the Pura 70 Pro is Huawei’s EMUI 14.2 operating system. It comes with a 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM configuration, providing ample space for apps, photos, and videos by users of the smartphone.

The device’s 5050mAh battery supports Huawei’s SuperCharge technology, allowing for fast wired and wireless charging. The phone is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.

The Pura 70 Pro supports a wide range of network bands for both single SIM and dual SIM models. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C, and NFC.

While the Pura 70 Pro flagship undoubtedly offers top-tier specifications and features, its  ₦1.4 million price tag is still something to consider carefully.
