Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo State Governor, says that information and communication technology is bedrock of learning and a prerequisite skill for success in modern Nigeria.
The Governor said this during the inauguration of an ICT Center donated by his wife, Chief Florence Ajimobi, to her alma mater, Our Lady of Apostle Senior Secondary School, Odo Ona, Ibadan, in commemoration of her 57th birthday.
The donation had preceded a thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel, Agodi, Ibadan, where the first family of Oyo State gave praises to God for sparing the life of their matriarch to attain her new age.

Ajimobi called on students to strive to achieve sound education through ICT, saying that the illiterates of tomorrow would not be those who could not read and write, but those who could not use ICT.
“Education is the foundation of success in life and I want to call your attention to the opportunity you have in this ICT center. This is a girls only school where there should be no distraction, I urge you to concentrate on your studies and other extra-curricular activities”, the Governor says.
“ICT is the bedrock of learning today and I can tell you that the illiterates of tomorrow will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot use the ICT. That is the future of this country”, he adds.
According to Ajimobi, “the person that we are celebrating today, who is my wife, did her Master’s program online with the aid of information technology and she is today your role model because she has made an in-road to success through education.”
Ajimobi used the opportunity of the event to inform the students that the wealthiest person in the world today got his wealth through information technology and appreciated his wife for deeming it fit to donate the Centre to her alma mater.
In her speech, the wife of the governor appreciated God for giving her the grace to attain 57 years of age and the privilege of being able to impact positively on the school and the society in general.
She however challenged the students to make good use of the facility in achieving empowerment and smooth journey ahead.
“I advise you to make positive use of this facility for future empowerment and a better journey ahead. Do not be lured into using it for destructive purpose that will endanger your future”, the Governor’s wife says.
Also present at the occasion were top officials of the state led by the Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo; members of the National Assembly; lawmakers from the state, led by the Speaker, Hon. Michael Adeyemo; Head of Service, Mr. Soji Eniade; Secretary to the State Government-designate, Mr. Olalekan Alli, among others.
