Top instant messaging app, WhatsApp wants users to customize and enhance photos and videos shared with friends and family on the app.

With the WhatsApp new camera features, users can now write or draw on photos and videos. WhatsApp users can also add emoji to express themselves, according to the FaceBook-owned app.

WhatsApp explains that “when you capture a new photo or video or share one that’s already on your phone, you’ll automatically see the new editing tools. Whether you’re drawing a big red heart to show how much you miss someone or adding your favorite emoji – sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words.”

In addition, the WhatsApp camera feature now supports the front-facing flash so users can take the perfect selfie. In low light and at night, this will brighten up the screen and improve the quality of the WhatsApp users photo.

WhatsApp says it has also added a convenient zooming feature for recording videos that the users only need to slide their finger up and down to zoom in and out. And to quickly switch between front and rear facing cameras, double tap on the screen.
