Ministers from 99 member states including Nigeria, delivered policy statements at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (ITU PP-22) held in Bucharest, Romania.

The Plenipotentiary Conference (PP), ITU’s highest policy-making body, meets once every four years to set the Union’s general policies, adopt the four-year strategic and financial plans, and elect the senior management team of the organisation, the Member States of the Council, and the members of the Radio Regulations Board.

Established over 150 years ago, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations’ specialised agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs), driving innovation in ICTs together with 193 Member States and a membership of over 900 companies, universities, and international and regional organisations.

The ITU PP-22 which was held from September 26 to October 14, 2022, in Bucharest, Romania, also saw the elections of new leadership for the institution.
