Nigeria will be pitching Smart Communities opportunities to tech investors at the ITU Telecom World 2016, which opened today in Bangkok, Thailand.
Under the plan, a high-level Nigeria delegation will tomorrow be highlighting many local opportunities in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector at the flagship International Telecommunication Union Telecom World Event, ITU Telecom World 2016, which attracts influential participants from public and private sectors and across the ICT industry around the world.
Also, Nigeria will be leveraging on the global platform provided by the event to showcase Nigeria’s ICT industry with a sponsored session tomorrow with the theme: Smart Communities: The Key to a digital Nigeria.
With a voice penetration standing at over 106%, over 135 million active subscribers and a growing population of mobile device users, Nigeria’s ICT industry offers tremendous potential for investors.
The Federal Government of Nigeria recognises that the innovative solutions that Nigerians provide on the backbone of ICT infrastructure will see the evolution of ‘smart communities’ and will in turn accelerate socio-economic development.
Against this fast-moving backdrop, Nigeria wants to leverage the global platform to engage potential investors and partners, share the story of Nigeria’s ICT growth to date and outline the range of opportunities and channels it offers for investment in broadband infrastructure.
This sponsored session will also highlight the thriving innovations and entrepreneurship of Nigerians, outlining how they are using ICTs creatively to positively impact the socio-economic matrix of Nigeria.
The panel session will be moderated by Mr Henry Nzekwu, Founder and Executive Vice Chairman, MessageWise Limited, Nigeria.
