The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has announced that the ITU Telecom World 2016 will focus on collaboration between SMEs, corporations and governments in the digital economy.
ITU Telecom World 2016 scheduled to hold on 14- 17 November 14-17, 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand will also refocus the key roles SMEs play in the global digital ecosystem.
According to organisers, ITU Telecom World 2016 is expected to serve as an avenue for influential figures from government and industry to connect and collaborate with SMEs and digital entrepreneurs in the ICT sector in order to exhibit and explore partnership solutions, investment opportunities, shared ideas and best practices.
Participants will include heads of states, ministers, regulators, industry CEOs and experts, investors, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs, as well as thinkers and consultants.
According to ITU, the event will feature exhibition, knowledge sharing forum, networking hub for corporations, governments and SMEs and also, an Awards programme recognizing excellence and innovation in ICT solutions with social impact from SMEs and corporation alike.
Additionally, the Gender Equality and Mainstreaming in Technology (GEM-TECH Awards), a joint ITU/UN Women prize recognizing outstanding efforts in using the power of information and communication technology (ICT) to empower women and girls will be conferred at the event.
The event will further provide a unique international platform to bring together thinkers from developed and emerging markets, public and private sector leaders, and industry representatives from across the entire ICT ecosystem.
It will also provide perspectives from across ITU and its membership and partners, with co-located events including the ITU Kaleidoscope Academic Conference 2016; the Worlds Standards Cooperation Academic Round-table; the ITU’s Secretary General Academia Consultation; Conformity, Interoperability and Mobile Phone testing; the 8th Chief Technology Officer CTO meeting; the 7th Private Sector Chief Regulatory Officers (CRO) meeting, advisory boards meetings of the Smart Sustainable Development Model Initiative (SSDM) and m-Powering Development Initiative.
