Nigerian e-commerce company, Jumia has announced a tie with organisers of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria to promote local culture and to discover new modelling talents in the country.
The partnership will see models rock different local and international designer like House of Marie, Jedidah, Long Feet Boutique, among others, the company announced.
Africa Fashion Week has also partnered with world-renowned magazines and international cable and terrestrial TV networks for a hunt for emerging talents that spread across the fashion industry.
Jeremy Doutte Co-CEO of Jumia Nigeria said that, “we are always proud to promote Nigerian fashion, and following the success of our ‘By-Naija’ online store, we are looking forward to encouraging more creativity in Nigeria with the upcoming African Fashion Week partnership in Nigeria.”
Also commenting on the alliance, Ronke Ademiluyi, Founder of African Fashion Week Nigeria said that, “we are really excited to have Jumia as a sponsor and partner, and we believe that Jumia is the perfect platform that will act as a retail network and distribution channel for our designers, a platform that will help in making their labels readily available to consumers.”
The winner of the young designer award will go home with $20,000 and will intern with one of the world’s biggest names in the fashion industry, according to show organisers.
