Jumia has opened an integrated warehouse in Lagos as part of the online retailer to expand its stakes in the Nigerian e-commerce market,

The opening of the Jumia Nigeria integrated warehouse on Monday this week, coinciding with the launch of a similar facility in Morocco  streamlines processing and delivery of orders to customers of the e-commerce company, Francis Dufay, Jumia CEO said.

Jumia said it has expanded its connectivity and capacity by establishing the 30,000 square metre warehouse located in Lagos, Nigeria.

Jumia is a global pan-African e-commerce platform has evolved into an online gaint, with operations across 13 African countries counting Egypt, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Kenya including Nigeria, among others.

Since its inception in 2012, Jumia said it has aimed to improve the quality of everyday life in Africa by leveraging technology to deliver innovative, convenient, and affordable online services to customers, as well as helping businesses grow by using its platform to better reach and serve customers.

In order to achieve its goal of better reaching and serving customers with the best possible shopping experiences, Jumia announced on June 10, the opening of a new 30,000 square meter warehouse in Isolo, Lagos. Additionally, Jumia said it took another significant step in operating in Morocco with a 5,000 square meter warehouse in Bouskoura, near Casablanca.

“We are excited to open these new integrated warehouses in Morocco and Nigeria. The centralized locations of both facilities will help streamline order processing and ensure rapid and efficient delivery in both countries, while enabling Jumia to scale its operations and be better equipped to meet the growing demand for e-commerce in Africa. More importantly, both warehouses will provide economic benefits to the local community, driving economic growth as well as employment opportunities for local talent,” according to Jumia CEO.

According to Jumia, over the years, it has connected over 64,000 sellers with customers through its platform to enable the shipping and delivery of packages ordered. However, this recent facility opening has enhanced the reach and connection between sellers and customers in the Nigeria and Morocco regions, resulting in improved efficiency, cost-savings for customers, and reduced delivery times.
