Nigeria’s online retail marketplace, Kaymu has launch its mobile app in a move to expand its mobile marketing in the country.
According to Evangeline Wiles, Managing Director of Kaymu Nigeria, the mobile app make online shopping in Nigeria easier and more convenient.
The Kaymu app comes with features that enable sellers to list products and buyers to select from a wide variety of products at a glance, the company MD said in a statement announcing the service.
According to Wiles, “mobile marketing is very quickly, revolutionizing the buying and selling process in Nigeria. With people conducting transactions via messaging apps like Blackberry Messenger and WhatsApp’’.
“The launch of the Kaymu.com mobile application on different platforms will provide more structured platform for sales to be conducted on the go”, Wiles added.
Kaymu says it is hopeful that the customer is mobile as official data from the nation’s telecoms watchdog puts the total number of mobile Internet subscribers in Nigeria at over 63 million active at the end of Q1 2014.
The growth of mobiles has boosted m-commerce explosion in Africa, as the number of users who access the Internet via their phones is growing rapidly and leapfrogging traditional desktop use in Africa, Wiles says.
The app will offer Nigerian customers of Kaymu a wider product assortment, fast and intuitive navigation and easier buyer and seller account management, according to Wiles.
