Mobile phone SIM cards are disconnected from mobile phone operators’ network after more than 180 days of being inactive.

But with MTN Nigeria’s Keep My Number service, you can keep your number if you travel out of the country or stay inactive or dormant for more than 180 days.
With the MTN Keep My Number service, your number will not be disconnected or re-cycled during mass disconnection and recycling of numbers by the mobile phone company.
You will have your number reserved for one year irrespective of how long your number remains inactive. You also get to avoid high roaming charges while trying to keep your SIM active.
To use the service, dial 3651# or send KMN to 36500 to subscribe. Once you subscribe for the service, a subscription fee of N500 will be deducted from your account. As soon as MTN confirms your payment, your number will be kept in Keep My Number list. So when a mass disconnection and recycling of numbers is conducted, your number will be excluded from the list.
Your number will now be kept in the Keep My Number list for 365days. If you want to stay on the Keep My Number list for another 365 days after your first subscription has expired, you will be required to re-subscribe again by dialling 3651# or texting KMN to 36500. After re-subscribing for the service again, another subscription fee of N500 will be deducted from your account.
In the event that your subscription expires and you do not re-subscribe again, your number will be disconnected and re-cycled. You can opt out of the service by dialing 3652#.
