The smart card, according to the LASRRA GM, integrates biometric identification with various features and benefits that address critical issues such as security, financial services, mobility, and access to government services and amenities. These services include access to transportation (train) the Ilera Eko healthcare system, and a wallet function for convenient payment of goods and services.

LASRRA: LAG-ID Card is official proof of residency in Lagos State

LASRRA says the LAG-ID Card serves as an official proof of residency for individuals registered in Lagos State. Each registered resident is issued a unique identification number printed on a smart Permanent Resident Card (PRC). This smart card was introduced in July 2022.

In a video presentation seen by Technology Times, Mrs. Adebiyi-Abiola explains that obtaining the LAG-ID Card is a simple process that involves registering with LASRRA, which she says is completely free of charge. To be eligible for registration as a resident, individuals must have resided in Lagos for a minimum of three months.

Once residents receive an SMS notification on their phone that their LAG-ID Card is ready for collection, they can pick it up at their convenience, she says. Additionally, residents can check the status of their registration and card issuance by using a newly generated USSD code (*347*641#) provided by LASRRA.

LASRRA was established in 2011 through state legislation. The agency is mandated to implement a comprehensive residents’ database and identification card programme for Lagos State.
