The Lagos State Government has launched two academies under its plan to enhance research and innovation efforts in the state.

The two academies, the Centre for Educational Planning, Economics & Research Development and the Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development, were launched in partnership with the International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators (IARSA), according to the Lagos State Government.

The launch event, which took place at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) in Magodo, Lagos was attended by Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, Lagos State Commissioner for Establishments and Training; Mr. Adekunmilola Adio-Moses, Director-General of the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, and Professor Ogunsakin Akin, President of IARSA, among others.

These academies aim to drive innovative research initiatives within the state, the Ayantayo said at the event that also witnessed the induction of over 40 new members into IARSA.

During his address, Ayantayo emphasised that that the academies “mark a significant step towards strengthening research capabilities in Lagos State which will drive innovation and support the State’s development goals.” He also commended IARSA and PSSDC for their valuable contributions.

On his part, Adio-Moses noted that “the initiative aims to empower employees to thrive for excellence in their respective fields while contributing to the state’s economic and social progress.” He said that the induction of PSSDC staff into IARSA signifies the state’s commitment to a professional and strategic partnership for the state’s advancement.
