Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, says that the state has partnered with tech companies while highlighting efforts underway to promote digital literacy among its youths.
The initiatives to promote digital literacy include partnerships with tech companies, digital training programmes, and the establishment of innovation hubs across the state, Ogunlende says while speaking on Monday at a press conference to commemorate the Y2024 International Youth Day at Alausa, Lagos.
The Commissioner emphasises the importance of equipping young people with digital skills to ensure the future prosperity of Lagos. He adds that the youth population is a valuable asset, and empowering them with digital tools and knowledge is essential for the long-term development of the state.
“The future of Lagos,” Ogunlende says, “lies in the hands of our youth, and by providing them with the digital skills they need, we are laying the foundation for a #Greater Lagos”. These efforts by the state are designed to prepare young Lagosians for the challenges of the digital age and to create opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy, he says.
Ogunlende wants young people in Lagos to take advantage of the resources and opportunities provided by the government to enhance their digital capabilities. He also calls for stakeholders’ support to ensure the success of the state’s efforts in this regard.
