Lagos State has opened a website, www.lsmvaapvs.org, to verify number plates of vehicles registered by the state government.
Lagos State says it has that digitized number plater system. The new website also lets law enforcement agencies verify authenticity of number plates issued by the State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA).
The website, www.lsmvaapvs.org, will henceforth become a medium of confirmation by motorists and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the number plates are genuine and in the record of the MVAA’s database, according to Mr. Lateef Lawal, General Manager of MVAA, Lagos.
The www.lsmvaapvs.org platform has became necessary in Lagos to eradicate the unnecessary harassment of licensees by officials of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies, Lawal of MVAA says.
The platform has became necessary to eradicate the unnecessary harassment of licensees by officials of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies, Lawal says.
According to the MVAA GM, the situation became worrisome and embarrassing to the State government and its clients when incessant reports, calls, SMS, e-mails and visits from licensees became rampant that vehicles duly registered with Lagos State number plates were being impounded by FRSC and other security officials.
Lagos State says that the general public, particularly car owners, FRSC and security agencies can visit the MVAA’s website at www.lsmvaapvs.org to verify the authenticity of number plates issued by the MVAA.
According to Lawal, “the site is easy to navigate, once logged in, type in the number plate and wait for the confirmation of the details of the vehicle.”
According to Lagos, MVAA was created to provide and maintain a robust motor Vehicle Administration Database and enduring private/public sector participation towards ensuring improved revenue generation and collection.
“It is structured to realise the huge potentials of modernised vehicle licensing and registration machinery for the attainment of socio-economic development and the security of life and property”, Lagos said.
