The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) has deployed a comprehensive digital college management system aimed at strengthening academic delivery, improving accountability and enhancing institutional efficiency.
The new platform forms part of the institution’s broader digital transformation agenda and is designed to address longstanding administrative bottlenecks while modernising core academic processes, the agency says.
At the heart of the system is an integrated suite of tools that includes a lecture attendance monitoring platform, digital attendance tracking for staff and students, class supervision mechanisms, Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for weekly assessments and semester examinations, and an AI-powered academic support module to assist teaching and learning activities.
LASCOHET: Digital solution addresses hurdles of manual systems
The digital solution is expected to eliminate challenges associated with manual lecture registers, fragmented assignment collation processes and limited oversight of lecture delivery across departments. These issues, administrators say, have historically constrained efficient academic administration and affected the overall teaching and learning experience within the college.
In a statement, the institution described the deployment as a major milestone in its technology adoption journey.
“The initiative is in line with our commitment to enhancing academic delivery, accountability and institutional efficiency, and marks a significant step in our digital transformation drive,” the college states.
To support a smooth transition, LASCOHET organised a structured training session for both academic and non-academic staff on the operation of the new system. The platform is designed to strengthen class monitoring, automate staff and student attendance management, streamline assessment administration and improve examination processes through structured digital workflows.
The training session was facilitated by Oluwafemi Oladeni, lead partner of the software development company responsible for the platform. He conducted live demonstrations of the system’s features, guiding participants through its operational interface and practical applications.
As part of the rollout, participants were introduced to a Digital Access Card system for enrolled students and staff, alongside a Digital Clock-In mechanism that operates through unique scan codes or QR codes integrated within the application. The system enables real-time attendance validation and centralised data capture.
Speaking during the session, Raheem Akewushola, Provost of LASCOHET, underscored the importance of technological adaptation in contemporary education systems.
“Embracing technology in modern education delivery is important. All academic and non-academic staff must be technology-savvy to meet evolving institutional and global standards,” the Provost of LASCOHET says.
During the interactive segment of the training, lecturers raised concerns regarding internet connectivity requirements for effective implementation. Some expressed apprehension about the need for uninterrupted and reliable internet access during lectures, assessments and real-time monitoring activities.
Facilitators responded by assuring participants that the system is optimised to function effectively under stable internet conditions, while discussions on strengthening supporting infrastructure are ongoing.
With the rollout of the digital college management system, LASCOHET positions itself to improve operational transparency, data-driven oversight and the overall quality of academic administration, reinforcing its commitment to aligning with emerging standards in technology-enabled education delivery.
