“The Broadband Summit provides a platform for the telecom industry to articulate its perspectives on the landscape, and devise strategies that will hasten Broadband penetration in Nigeria. We are excited to bring the industry together in partnership with BusinessDay towards the achievement of this critical developmental objective for Nigeria”, Opeke adds.
She called on all stakeholders in the industry and the government to take necessary steps towards achieving the massive infrastructure rollout required to bring broadband services to more Nigerians while underscoring the role of broadband in driving GDP growth among the economies of developing countries.
In his comments, Frank Aigbogun, Publisher of BusinessDay says the choice of MainOne as the host for this year’s Broadband Forum was easy given the company’s reputation as a foremost organisation in Nigeria’s broadband landscape and the company’s achievement over the past five years.
MainOne organised the summit with BusinessDay as part of activities to mark its 5th anniversary of entry into the market. The summit featured major industry players including mobile network operators and the country’s telecoms regulator.
The Broadband Summit reviewed the country’s current broadband status and explored strategies to achieve more effective and pervasive broadband coverage across Nigeria.
