MainOne has says that industry stakeholders should increase collaborative efforts on broadband availability across the West African regional economies.
Kazeem Oladepo, MainOne’s Business Executive for Ghana and Francophone West Africa who participated on the keynote panel at the just concluded West African Telecoms Summit where MainOne received the 2016 African Information Technology and Telecoms Award as Telecoms Wholesale Provider of the year made the call.
Speaking at the summit which focused on the outlook of broadband proliferation in West Africa, Oladepo shared MainOne’s perspectives on critical strategies required to drive penetration, address challenges of access and affordability and the bottlenecks associated with meeting consumer demands for broadband.

He underscores the critical need for increased collaborative efforts by industry stakeholders and recommended effective regulatory models for shared infrastructure.
While receiving the award, Oladepo said, “Receiving the Telecom Wholesale Carrier of the Year Award for the third year is truly an honor. It means a great deal to us that the industry continues to recognize MainOne’s innovation and leadership in the telecommunications industry.
“We pledge to continue to make strategic investments to enhance our network infrastructure and extend our capabilities and reach across West Africa”, he stated.
Other speakers at the summit include regulators and executives from MainOne, the National Communications Authority, Ghana, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria, Airtel Ghana and key players in West Africa’s telecommunications industry.
