Microsoft Band, a wearable fitness device by Microsoft has just been updated with a new feature to enable users connect their fitness activities with Facebook friends.
Microsoft says the new band’s social and leaderboards feature that can connect users to their Facebook friends will help users get motivated and take their friends on friendly competitions such as fitness challenges, which will decrease the chances of missing a workout.
Furthermore, users will also have fun sharing their exercising accomplishments such as awesome workouts or summary of a great night’s sleep on social media and friends can review the data in the public dashboard if users so wish.
With social challenges and leaderboards, users can create challenges for steps, cardio minutes, longest run or bike ride between users and their Facebook friends who also have a Microsoft band. Challenges can be one, three, five or seven days.
Users can also see who performs well by checking their friends’ daily activities on Microsoft Health’s Leader board to compare their standing and get motivated, the technology company says.
Users can connect with Facebook friends who also have Microsoft Band by connecting the “Microsoft Health” in the Microsoft Health mobile app and Facebook accounts to see Facebook friends who also have connected accounts. The next step is to invite already connected friends right from the app.
Users can still compete with friends who don’t have a Microsoft Band for steps or calories burned through the Microsoft Health app on iOS, Android or Windows phone.
