Several years ago in Nigeria, it might have been difficult to conceive of the idea of speaking to a receiver who is miles away while on the go. However, the introduction of mobile phone technology has made this possible.
First was the feature phone whose functionality is limited majorly to making and receiving calls and sending and receiving text messages.
Today, the mobile phone technology has advanced beyond imagination with the advent of smartphones and other Android mobile devices. One can do practically everything online with mobile phones. Various mobile applications, with several and distinct usages, have re-engineered the way things are done, thus making life easier.
There is no doubt that mobile devices can either constitute a vice or enhance our living depending on how we use them.

Many youths are misusing mobile technology to their detriment. It is not difficult for one to see a youth with the two ears blocked with earphones listening to music at the loudest volume of the mobile phone.
Some of them have fallen victims of untimely death by being knocked down by moving vehicles and even train. Youths carry out various forms of fraudulent acts online using their mobile phones. Some waste a large chunk of their daily lives on the Internet browsing websites that do not add any value to them.
On the contrary, there abound mobile applications that help simplify our daily activities. For instance, there are applications that assist students to tackle their school subjects with ease.
With banking applications, one can be at his El Dorado and make banking transactions. Google Play Store, Apple Store and Blackberry World offer a wide range of valuable applications, of which a good number are free.
Let us make the most of the opportunities smartphones and their applications offer to better our lives.
