MTN South Africa says it has reached an agreement with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) to end the strike embarked upon by the trade group two months ago.
According to a statement by the South African mobile phone company, “the agreement serves the common interests of MTN and the employees, and allows MTN to focus on its core reason for existence, which is to deliver services to its customers.”
The company apologised for the inconvenience that its customers suffered during the period of the strike and thanked them for their patience and loyalty.
The workers had embarked upon the industrial action in May this year on issues bordering on salary and bonus.
At the core of the agreement is that the union has accepted MTN’s bonus and salary adjustment policies, the mobile phone company says.
