The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has issued a public notice for users to reinstall its Med Safety App to access new data privacy and security features.
The app, which was first introduced in 2020, is a vital tool for reporting Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI), and side effects related to medical products, including vaccines used for the prevention and management of COVID-19. The Med Safety App is available for free download on both Android and Apple devices.
NAFDAC says it has incorporated significant enhancements into the updated app. These include essential bug fixes addressing user-reported issues, new features designed to optimise app performance and usability, and overall performance improvements which users can expect the app to run faster and more efficient. This new update also includes security measures to protect user data. This advanced security measures, the agency says, are meant to protect user’s information and guarantee the secure transmission and storage of reports submitted.
To fully benefit from these updates and to continue enjoying the most reliable and efficient version of the Med Safety App, the agency requests that users should uninstall and then reinstall the app on their devices. NAFDAC stressed that “this process is essential to fully integrate the new updates for app optimisation.”
