The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will today stage the prize giving ceremony for the winners of its national essay competition on “Broadband: A catalyst for National Development.”
The telecoms regulator had earlier announced Odonoekuma Onyebuchi Ekuma of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) as the winner of the competition.
Abdulkareem Ibraheem of the University of Ilorin was named first runner-up while Asogwa Chijioke Peter of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka came third.
NCC also named the seven consolation prize winners that include Onah Kizito Chijioke of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Ucheoma Chimdinma Kelechi of the University of Port-Harcourt; Amusa Tajudeen Lasisi of the Federal University of Technology, Minna; and Achombi Oshioke Emmanuel of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Others are Christopher Tochukwu Mercy of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Ayodele Yussuf Olajide of the University of Lagos; and Ignatius Nwokolo Chidi of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
The regulator introduced the competition to promote understanding of issues around high speed Internet service for development.
The event will hold at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja by 11 am, NCC said.
