Odonoekuma Onyebuchi Ekuma of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has been named the winner of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) 2014 National Essay Competition on Broadband.
Abdulkareem Ibraheem of the University of Ilorin was named first runner-up while Asogwa Chijioke Peter of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka came third, according to the Nigerian telecoms regulator, which introduced the competition to promote understanding of issues around high speed Internet service for development.
NCC also named the seven consolation prize winners that include Onah Kizito Chijioke of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Ucheoma Chimdinma Kelechi of the University of Port-Harcourt; Amusa Tajudeen Lasisi of the Federal University of Technology, Minna; and Achombi Oshioke Emmanuel of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Others are Christopher Tochukwu Mercy of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Ayodele Yussuf Olajide of the University of Lagos; and Ignatius Nwokolo Chidi of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Winners will be presented with their prizes at a date and venue that will be announced later, NCC said.
