The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) will today reward and celebrate excellence and outstanding contributions in Nigeria’s Information Technology (IT) space at a prestigious event billed to hold in Lagos.
NCS, the nation’s foremost network of Information Technology (IT) practitioners and stakeholders says the awards night celebrates the best of Nigerian information technology creativity and innovation that have remoulded the society in various ways. It will feature the prestigious award  for the IT Personality of the Year .
“Award winners are recognised for being inspiring symbols through their expertise and hard work”, according to the technology body.
Speaking on the sideline of the event Professor David O. Adewumi, NCS President has promised that National Information Technology Merit Award (NITMA )2014 will honor those that  have made significant impact in expanding the frontiers of Information Technology in Nigeria.
“Category awards are based on IT specialization, NCS standards and global best practices”, according to the NCS chief.
Also attracting serious attention are the Professional fellowships that will be conferred on deserving practitioners.
Professional Fellowship conferment is the highest recognition of professional excellence anyone can receive in IT practice in Nigeria the organiser said.
Organisers of the event says the annual event will not only attracts  professionals, innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs, but also policy makers and decision makers in the private and public sectors.
Organised successfully since 2009, NITMA is credible, forward looking and important in promoting long term sustainability of the IT sector and developing Nigeria’s knowledge society, NCS said.
