The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that the full list of institutions that have submitted their complete student data, as requested by the agency, will be published online on June 24, 2024.

This data will be uploaded onto the NELFUND Student Verification System (SVS) portal, according to the management of NELFUND.

The student loan policy was initially introduced in June 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and subsequently delayed until its re-enactment in April 2024. Following this, NELFUND announced the opening of the loan application and issuance portal on May 24, which is now operational.

According to NELFUND, the forthcoming list will include both Federal and State-owned institutions. The publication, NELFUND said, aims to ensure transparency and to encourage both undergraduate applicants and tertiary institutions to participate in this critical exercise.

Numerous Federal institutions have already finalised their data submissions, marking the initial group to complete this phase. Meanwhile, the process of uploading data to the NELFUND SVS continues for state-owned institutions, according to the Fund.

“In order for applicants to be able to access the fund,” it said that “the individual’s details must feature in institution’s submitted data set sent to the NELFUND SVS, where automatic applicant verification can then occur seamlessly.”

Therefore, it is critical that the information provided by tertiary institutions is not only complete but also accurate. The correlation of JAMB numbers, Matriculation numbers, Admission Numbers, as well as applicants’ full names and dates of birth, will support the evaluation process.

NELFUND advised applicants to input accurate data and verify error-free email addresses during their applications, while expressing appreciation for the collaboration from State and Federal tertiary institutions nationwide.
