With the new app, users will see their Skype conversation history where they can talk face-to-face on a call, message their friends in an instant to share photos and send emoticons and mojis to liven up their conversation, Skype explains. Users can also chat with one or up to 24 of their friends and family simultaneously on a video call.

A Skype user who is not camera ready can always make voice calls to anyone on Skype or call mobile and landlines at low rates, Skype further explains, adding that since Skype Preview is built into Windows 10, users can reply to messages directly from notifications without having to open the app via the quick reply feature.

The User Interface (UI) has also been updated to take advantage of the Windows 10 look and feel but users who prefer the light background version of Skype, can simply go to settings and select “Light theme” under personalisation.

To explore the new app, Skype says, users who have the Windows 10 anniversary update on their Windows phone, should select Skype Preview from their list of apps or the tile and for users who already use Skype, the new Skype Preview should automatically replace the existing Skype app but if that hasn’t happened, users can download Skype Preview for free on Windows Play Store.
