A new governing council has been inaugurated for the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) by Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communication in Abuja.

The 9-member Council which is the highest policy making organ of the government-owned communications satellite service provider, NIGCOMSAT, is chaired by Chief George Moghalu and Ms Abimbola Alale, CEO of the company, as secretary.

The Minister of Communications encouraged board members to address the limitless challenges ahead in order to make ICT a major contributor to the persisting problem of unemployment in the country.

Alhaji Abdulaziz Abdullahi Mashi, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications in his welcome address advised the board members to work in line with Civil Service rules and regulations.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of all the board members, the Board Chairman of NIGCOMSAT stated their willingness to work with the honorable minister to achieve results while graciously accepting the responsibility given to them.
