The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has inked a deal with technology firm Vault Hill to deploy artificial intelligence for the government-owned satellite company to enhance its customer service.

The collaboration has resulted in the development of Hillda, an AI companion customised for NIGCOMSAT and branded as “Ayesha”, according to a statement by the two technology companies.

NIGCOMSAT said that this strategic initiative aligns with the ambitious vision of Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy in which his Ministry plans to create 50,000 AI jobs by 2030 and train 3 million technical talents, “marking a transformative step towards a technology-driven future.”

Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, MD/CEO of NIGCOMSAT, highlighted the importance of the collaboration when she said that “NIGCOMSAT’s journey is about transcending boundaries and realising the potential of satellite technology for our nation’s betterment. In partnership with Vault Hill, we are advancing our services and reiterating our commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and a pivotal role in Nigeria’s digital economy.”

Ayesha, developed using Vault Hill’s proprietary AI and immersive technology, claims to offer an avatar-based chatbot interface providing 24/7 customer support. This AI companion handles inquiries, addresses complaints, and assists in sales, “reflecting NIGCOMSAT’s dedication to exceptional customer service.”
