Nigeria’s National ID enrollments cross 107 million, NIMC says

The Federal Government has signed up over 107 million Nigerians and legal residents on the country’s national ID database, according to Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director General/CEO of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

The Federal Government has signed up over 107 million Nigerians and legal residents on the country’s national ID database, according to Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director General/CEO of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). 

Engr. Coker-Odusote, who confirmed the record, said that those successfully enrolled into the National Identity Database, managed by NIMC, are over 107 million Nigerians and legal residents in the country.

The NIMC CEO disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the House of Representatives’ Committee on National Population and Identity to the NIMC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement by the Commission.

National ID | NIMC ‘captured 14 million Nigerians’ by 2016

The delegation, led by Honourable Okunjimi John Odumayo, was received by the NIMC management. In her address, Coker-Odusote expressed her gratitude for the visit and outlined the Commission’s efforts to make National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment more accessible.

According to the NIMC CEO, the Commission, which is stepping up efforts to extend the NIN enrollment to wards and schools will soon make the pre-enrollment software “will soon be “available for Nigerians.”

Odumayo, the statement said, commended the NIMC for its significant achievements and hospitality, stating that the visit was intended to familiarise the Committee members with the operations of the identity agency.

The visit concluded with a tour of the National Identity Database, offering the Committee members a detailed view of the NIMC’s accomplishments and processes.
