The Federal Government has launched the Youth Farmers Enrolment Portal expected to create six million jobs for Nigerian youths by 2025 under plans to address unemployment and food insecurity.

“The initiative aims to create 6 million direct jobs for youths in 2025 across agriculture, food and and beverage, and agro-allied sectors,” Olawande says.
Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development.
Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development, who announced the launch during an event in Abuja, says the government plans to create six million direct jobs by year-end.
“The initiative aims to create 6 million direct jobs for youths in 2025 across agriculture, food and and beverage, and agro-allied sectors,” Olawande says.
According to the Youth Development, the portal, developed in partnership with the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP), aims to provide economic opportunities for young people while strengthening the country’s agricultural sector.
“This initiative,” the Minister says, “is about empowering young Nigerians with the tools to actively participate in economic development while combating hunger and poverty, which are critical national challenges.”
The portal targets individuals aged 18 to 35, providing access to agricultural training programmes, modern farming techniques, mentorship, financial support, and resources to help them start or expand farming businesses, Olawande adds.
He says that the programme is more than just a job creation tool, while highlighting its potential to improve rural and urban livelihoods while ensuring food security and boosting the economy.
The Minister encourages young Nigerians to enroll and take advantage of this opportunity by visiting www.niyeedep.org.
