The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) said it has arrested a suspect and seized a large sum of counterfeit money totaling $100,000, in a raid by its cybercrime unit.
According to a statement issued by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) of the law enforcement agency, “acting on credible intelligence” conducted a raid on a suspected cybercrime hideout in Garki II, Abuja. While other members of the gang escaped, the NPF-NCCC successfully apprehended one Muhammed Zenabdin “M.”

“The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, NPM, commended the Director of the NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, and his team for their diligent efforts in combating cybercrime,” the statement stated.
IGP Egbetokun further issued a “stern warning to all cybercrime threat actors, urging them to cease their illicit activities or face severe legal consequences.”
The NPF-NCCC’s raid not only resulted in the arrest but also uncovered substantial evidence. A search warrant executed at the hideout revealed “One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars in one-hundred-dollar bills believed to be counterfeits, along with sophisticated counterfeit detection equipment, international passports, mobile phones, and a luxury vehicle.”
Muhammed Zenabdin, the Police said, has confessed to his involvement and provided valuable information that could lead to the apprehension of other gang members. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect(s) will be arraigned in court, the statement stated.
