The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has introduced a new and improved domain for reporting cybercrime-related offences, in what the law-enforcement agency sees as a significant step in its mission to combat cybercrime and secure the nation’s digital landscape.

The newly launched platform, overseen by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), is accessible at [nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin].

The modern domain replaces the previous reporting site, [incb.npf.gov.ng], which has now been officially retired, according to the Police.

Nigeria Police on its role in combating cybercrime

The NPF Cybercrime Unit began as a unit in 2017, established to directly address the threat of cybercrime. Over time, it evolved into a national entity, becoming the central hub for addressing cyber and cyber-related crimes within and outside the Police Force. This evolution reflects the growing importance and complexity of cybercrime in today’s digital age, the Police said.

According to the NPF, the new platform is designed with advanced security measures to ensure the protection of user information and guarantee confidentiality. It offers a user-friendly interface to facilitate the swift and efficient reporting of cybercrime incidents. Additionally, the platform boasts enhanced tracking and response mechanisms, enabling the NPF to act promptly and effectively on reported cases.

“The introduction of this upgraded reporting platform marks a pivotal advancement in our cybercrime combat strategy,” Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), said. “We strongly encourage the public to utilise this new tool for reporting any cybercrime activities. Your vigilance and prompt reporting are crucial in aiding our efforts to curb cybercrime in Nigeria and beyond.”

The Inspector General emphasized the critical role of public participation in the fight against cybercrime, highlighting that secure and efficient reporting channels are essential for the NPF to respond effectively to cyber threats.

I was added to an investment-related Telegram group without my prior request. Initially, I ignored the group. However, after some time, I decided to observe the activities within the group and noticed multiple screenshots and messages presented as proof of successful investment payouts.
Believing these representations to be genuine, I decided to participate. I was instructed to make an initial deposit, which I did. After the first deposit, I was informed that I needed to make an additional deposit in order to proceed and avoid losing my initial funds.
This pattern continued repeatedly. Each time I made a deposit, I was told to deposit again, with the threat that failure to do so would result in the loss of all previous deposits. Due to this pressure, I borrowed funds and continued depositing, which occurred a total of five (5) times.
After the fifth deposit, I realized that the demands would not stop and decided to discontinue further payments. Shortly thereafter, the individual I was communicating with blocked me on Telegram and ceased all communication.
I have reason to believe that the screenshots and proofs presented were fabricated and that I was deliberately deceived as part of an organized investment scam.
I am in possession of all relevant transaction details, payment receipts, which I am prepared to submit upon request.
