Nigeria is intensifying efforts to build cross-border technology partnerships as government officials engage global stakeholders at GITEX Africa, one of the continent’s largest platforms for innovation, investment and digital transformation.
Leading the delegation, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, says the technology agency has commenced high-level engagements with governments, investors, startups and technology leaders.
His participation, alongside Ekpo Nta Owo, reflects Nigeria’s efforts to position its digital economy within global discussions on innovation, jobs and economic growth.

The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring opportunities to position Nigeria within the global digital innovation ecosystem, NITDA adds.
NITDA seeking to position Nigeria within global innovation ecosystem
According to a statement by NITDA, GITEX Africa provides “a strategic platform for driving digital transformation, innovation, and cross-border collaboration across Africa.”
In a key development, Inuwa held a meeting with senior executives of the Dubai World Trade Centre, including Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President, and Richard Brook, Assistant Vice President for GITEX Africa, alongside other stakeholders.
The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring opportunities to position Nigeria within the global digital innovation ecosystem, NITDA adds.
At the event, Nigeria is presenting initiatives centred on digital skills development, startup support and regulatory reforms aimed at improving the operating environment for technology-driven growth.
The participation, according to NITDA, aligns with the policy direction of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose Renewed Hope Agenda emphasises the role of technology in economic diversification, investment attraction and job creation.
The delegation also includes the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, reflecting the link between digital transformation and workforce development.
According to the statement, the engagements “underscore NITDA’s commitment to building strategic international partnerships that will accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.”
Discussions are continuing at GITEX Africa, with Nigeria’s delegation expected to pursue partnerships and collaborations with international stakeholders.
