Nigerian businesses are increasingly outsourcing their IT management to Managed Service Providers (MSPs) as they struggle to keep up with rising cybersecurity threats, according to Heirs Technologies.
Heirs Technologies, a subsidiary of Heirs Holdings, a pan-African investment company, says that businesses are switching to IT outsourcing as they face the twin challenges of complex technology needs and growing cybersecurity threats.
The Nigerian IT services market is projected to reach $2.56 billion in 2025, with IT outsourcing accounting for approximately $992.61 million, according to Statista.
The increasing reliance on MSPs is further fueled by the need for businesses to reduce IT costs, while ensuring security and regulatory compliance.

“A well-managed cloud strategy,” Heirs Technologies says, can reduce IT costs by up to 40% while improving agility and scalability.”
The technology company, which functions as an MSP offering IT infrastructure management, cloud services, and cybersecurity solutions, in a post seen by Technology Times, describes the challenge as akin to “trying to run a marathon while also fixing the road ahead of you, every crack, pothole, and unexpected detour.”
Businesses must juggle infrastructure, security, cloud services, and end-user support while focusing on core functions, making MSP partnerships a viable alternative, the technology company says.
Nigeria has become a prime target for cyberattacks, with organisations experiencing an average of 3,759 incidents per week, according to a report by Check Point Software Technologies. The financial sector has been particularly affected, with some banks suffering breaches that compromised thousands of customer accounts.
In response, businesses are increasingly seeking MSPs to implement security measures such as threat detection and response, firewall and network security, endpoint security, and compliance management, according to Heirs Technologies.
“Every organisation relies on its IT infrastructure – servers, networks, storage, and hardware, to keep operations running. But maintaining this ecosystem requires constant monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation,” Heirs Technologies says.
MSPs also provide businesses with cloud management services, helping them transition from traditional on-premises setups to cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
