The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of Nigeria has confirmed that its official website has been compromised by hackers.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of Nigeria has confirmed that its official website has been compromised by hackers. 

The agency, which says it is actively working to restore the site and has advised the public to disregard any information from the website until it is fully operational.

“This is to inform the public that the NBS Website has been hacked and we are working to recover it,” the NBS stated in a message posted on its official X page. “Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored.”

The NBS is Nigeria’s primary source of statistical data, providing essential information on various sectors, including the economy, population, and employment, among others.

The website serves as a critical resource for policymakers, researchers, and the general public seeking accurate and up-to-date statistics about the country.

The NBS has not provided a timeline for when the website will be restored but has assured the public that they are working to recover the website. In the interim, the NBS is expected to use its official social media channels to give important updates and information.
