The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), managers of the country’s Internet real estate, has said it registered 7,075 domain names and renewed 4,277 at the end of Q1 2016.
Reverend Sunday Folayan, President of NIRA says that in March 2016, 2,496 new domain names were registered, 1,633 domain names were renewed and there were 551 transfers among the NiRA Accredited Registrars.
The NIRA President, who expressed his happiness in the growing uptake of .ng domain names says that “it is interesting and refreshing to witness such growth. The renewal rate is encouraging as well.”

Folayan assured that the association will work harder to make more people feel the progress and growth of the .ng brand, saying that “we are not yet there, we do not have the numbers but we are focused on making the .ng brand, the brand to be reckoned with.”
He also invites all stakeholders to the 8th Annual General Meeting of NIRA, which would hold on Friday 29th April 2016 at NiRA Office Complex, saying “the Board will present an account of the first year of its stewardship under my leadership.”
