Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the new Director General at National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) says the agency will place top priority on technology skills for Nigerian youths.
Pantami who was appointed as the DG of the IT implementing agency in September this year underscores the need to create avenue for swift growth and development of Information Technology (IT) sector through youth capacity building.
The NITDA boss dropped this hint when the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Abuja Chapter led by the Chairman, Mr. Ayodeji Rex Abitogun visited him.
Speaking on the full implementation of IT policies in the country, the NITDA DG assured NCS of his support and collaboration with the enthusiasm to take ICT to a greater height.
NITDA’s plans to encourage the States to establish State Information Technology Development Agency (SITDA) that will fast track the growth of ICT at various state levels, which is in line with the change mantra of the present administration in diversifying the economy, according to Pantami.
Mr. Ayodeji Rex Abitogun, Chairman NCS Abuja Chapter, on his part congratulated Dr. Ali Isa Ibrahim Pantami on his appointed as the Director General of NITDA, and stated that Information Technology (IT) is a key tool in national development as it contributes immensely to the national economy.
He added that with the high rate of cyber crime across the globe, there is need to train the younger generation in the area of capacity building which will aid in curbing such problems.
Abitogun seek the support and collaboration of the Agency in the areas of infrastructures, capacity building, and the presentation at the “Road walk for IT” which will aid in the transformation of the nation to an IT and knowledge based economy
