The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says they have jointly launched the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) initiative across 12 states in Nigeria.
The DL4ALL scheme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to promote diversification through industrialization, digitization, and innovation, according to the two government agencies.
NITDA: Nigeria aims for 70% digital literacy target by 2027
DL4ALL, according to NITDA, aims to achieve 70% digital literacy for all Nigerians by 2027. The programme is designed to equip citizens with the basic digital skills necessary to thrive in today’s tech-driven environment.
Pilot Phase Begins in 12 States
“The pilot phase of the programme has already begun in 12 states including the Federal Capital Territory, Kebbi State, Jigawa State, Yobe State, Gombe State, Kwara State, Ekiti State, Osun State, Cross River State, Bayelsa State, Abia State and Ebonyi state.” Sensitization lectures are currently being conducted in NYSC camps, introducing corps members and local communities to the goals of DL4ALL, NITDA says in a statement.
Corps Members to Lead Training Nationwide
According to the Federal IT agency, “these young graduates, stationed in various parts of Nigeria, will serve as champions during their service year, providing training and sensitisation on digital skills within the communities they serve.
“The programme will use the existing NYSC structure to kickstart nationwide sensitisation and skill-building. Corps members will be instrumental in delivering digital literacy training, ensuring that every corner of the country is touched by the programme”.
