The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) says it has assessed the IT readiness of Nigerian states through its IT Penetration Evaluation and Assessment for States (IPEAS) initiative.

The IPEAS initiative, NITDA says, also seeks to bridge the digital divide and align state-level IT initiatives with national economic growth and development goals.
According NITDA, the IPEAS scheme, which was conducted at a workshop organised in Kano State, the key objectives include monitoring IT trends at the state level, evaluating the implementation of NITDA projects, rating states based on IT maturity, and identifying untapped digital resources.
The IPEAS initiative, NITDA says, also seeks to bridge the digital divide and align state-level IT initiatives with national economic growth and development goals.
“The initiative which brought together key stakeholders from government institutions to deliberate on strategies to deepen IT adoption and utilisation and explore ways to boost innovation, serves as a platform for collaboration to enable evaluation of IT maturity level in the Nigerian States by providing global visibility to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI),” NITDA says.
NITDA underscores the importance of collaboration in achieving these goals, emphasising that the evaluations will not only highlight areas for improvement, but also showcase states with robust IT infrastructures, making them attractive to investors.
