The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), says it is set to address Nigeria’s cybersecurity skills gaps to build a secure digital future for the country.
Kashifu Inuwa, NITDA Director General, said this while speaking at GITEX Global 2024 where he unveiled Nigeria’s strategic approach to building a secure digital future in his keynote address titled, “Securing Africa’s Digital Future: Nigeria’s Cybersecurity Roadmap” and “Nigeria’s Cyber Resilience for a Digital Future.”

“The roadmap aims to close the cybersecurity skills gap, develop secure data systems, and ensure a cohesive national cybersecurity architecture aligned with global standards.“ Inuwa says.
He highlights the need for significant investments in human capital development, policy reforms, and infrastructure standardisation to ensure a digitally secure future.
The Nigeria roadmap, according to him, is designed to close the cybersecurity skills gap, develop secure data systems, and create a cohesive national cybersecurity architecture that aligns with global standards.
According to Inuwa, “the five key pillars of the country’s digital vision: building digital fluency among citizens, enhancing cybersecurity skills, developing policy frameworks to secure infrastructure, fostering technological innovation, and driving cybersecurity through innovation roadmaps.”
By focusing on these areas, Nigeria aims to position itself as a leader in Africa’s digital economy, ensuring resilience and security as the country embraces new technologies, the NITDA DG says.
