Nigeria is to restructure its National Blockchain Policy, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the nation’s IT regulatory agency has said.
NITDA dropped the hint at a workshop focused on reconstituting the National Blockchain Policy Steering Committee (NBP-SC), set up to refine Nigeria’s blockchain policies.
Inuwa, represented by Mr. Oladejo Olawunmi, Director of IT Infrastructure Solutions at NITDA, said that the committee’s was inaugurated on May 16, 2023. However, no explanation was given for its reconstitution one year later..
Inuwa said that the agency formed the committee to supervise the execution of the National Blockchain Policy (NBP) and guarantee its harmony with the policy’s overarching goals and objectives.
The committee comprised representatives from government agencies, institutions, the private sector, academia, and the industry engaged in the blockchain ecosystem.
During the event NITDA emphasised “the importance of collaboration between the government and private sectors to propel Nigeria towards becoming a global digital powerhouse.”.
