The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the United Nations are holding talks to strengthen collaboration on digital skills development and innovation for Nigerian youths.
The engagement follows a meeting between Kashifu Abdullahi, Director General of NITDA, and Felipe Paullier, Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, focused on advancing youth development through digital transformation, NITDA says in a statement.
According to NITDA, the discussions explored opportunities to equip young Nigerians with digital skills and tools required for participation in the global digital economy. Inuwa says the meeting “provided a platform to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at empowering young people with the skills, tools, and platforms needed to thrive in today’s digital economy.”

He adds that the agency is implementing programmes in digital literacy, innovation support, startup incubation and capacity building targeted at unlocking the potential of Nigeria’s youth population.
The talks align with ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to build a knowledge-driven economy, with a focus on addressing youth unemployment and expanding access to digital opportunities, according to NITDA.
For the United Nations, the engagement supports its global priorities on youth inclusion, digital access and the future of work, with Nigeria identified as a key partner due to its large youth population and growing technology ecosystem.
NITDA says the discussions underscore a shared objective to deepen cooperation in youth-focused initiatives, with potential for expanded programmes aimed at supporting innovation and improving access to global opportunities for Nigerian tech talent.
