Olanipekun Alao, the FCT Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has described the newly-introduced online registration for intending Corp member as a ”life saving formular.”
[blockquote right=”pull-right” cite=”-NYSC”]“What used to take us like three days with the manual system took us two hours to register more than 2,000 corps members because all those that registered online had already sent in all the details we had to ask them. We just printed them out and didn’t need to type the information again.”[/blockquote]
According to him the online registration reduces a lot of the stress and difficulties normally experienced in the previous editions of the programme. The new scheme will facilitate speed and accuracy in computing biodata and other useful information of Corp Members, according to him.
“What used to take us like three days with the manual system took us two hours to register more than 2,000 corps members because all those that registered online had already sent in all the details we had to ask them. We just printed them out and didn’t need to type the information again”, Alao said during the swearing-in ceremony of the new corps members held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.
Alao, who was reacting to claims by some corps members over the challenges they encountered during the registration process despite the money paid, said the complaints were not necessary as the money cannot be compared with the difficulties the new policy has eliminated.
He reiterated that the on-line registration was done for the best interest of the corps members, their parents and other stakeholders, including the staff, who have been spared the stress of attending to all the questions of corps members.
The coordinator also pledged his continuous commitment to the defense and promotion of the ideals of the scheme, and to mobilise, organise and deploy corps members towards the advancement of the government programs in line with the vision of the scheme.
