Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife has launched an e-learning solution to enable higher education seekers who are disadvantaged by time, age, physical disabilities and also the working class to obtain higher education.
According to the institution, the Obafemi Awolowo University’s Centre for Distance Learning (OAU-CDL) has been officially approved by the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) and is now receiving applications for the 2013/2014 academic session into the departments of Accounting, Nursing Science, Economics, Education and Social Studies Education.
OAU further said the e-learning solution has a Learning Management System (LMS) installed on a customised tablet to enable students receive lectures delivered by the university’s lecturers, submit assignments, interact with peers, participate in group discussions and get graded without being physically present within the four walls of a classroom.
Under the plan, students will be taught by the same lecturers and receive the same certificate as on-campus students. They will only be required to be present on campus for practicals and examinations.
